I’m always looking for yummy fish baby recipes and this time I was inspired by a family recipe that I prepare very often for my kids 🙂 I love cooking salmon for them with a side of steamed broccoli, it’s such an easy and flavorful recipe. I simply changed few things and made it in a baby puree.
Salmon is one of my favorite baby food ingredient: loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids and a great source of protein. I really like the broccoli/salmon combo. Of course yogurt+lemon+dill are a great addition to salmon, they balance the flavors.
If you serve this recipe to toddlers or if you are following the BLW method, simply skip the puree’ step and mash everything with a fork. Also, you can add some rice or quinoa for a full and complete meal with carbs too.
The recipe is suggested for +9 months babies as broccoli might cause gas/diaper rash/tummy ache to a young intestine. If you want to serve this recipe to younger babies (+6M) simply substitute the broccoli with a vegetable that is easier to digest: zucchini.
In a steamer place the broccoli florets and cook for 8 minutes.
Meanwhile in a pan add the salmon and cook for about 3/4 minutes per side up until the salmon is completely cooked. Do not add anything else.
You will see that the salmon will be cooked when the color will turn from deep orange into pale pink.
Place the salmon, steamed broccoli, lemon zest, yogurt of your choice, dill and leftover water from the steamed broccoli in a food processor or tall container if you are using an immersion blender. Puree up until smooth.
Serve warm. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days or freeze it for up to 3 months.
